In a recent article on wsj.com, Anne Marie Chaker writes about the new trend in window treatments: sexy.

“Some interior designers are looking for inspiration to women’s fashion—specifically to the wispy, sheer blouses and pullovers more women are layering over camisoles and tank tops. The result is a layered, see-through window treatment, whether sheer curtains over half-opened shades, or textured curtains over sheer shades.”

Enhancing this trend in window treatments, Chaker writes, is 3M window film installed by a reputable dealer (like Southwest Florida’s NBISUNCONTROL):

“

A layer of protective film, like the kind once found mainly in cars, is mounted onto the glass window panes. High-performance window film typically is cut to size and professionally installed by a dealer-representative affiliated with a manufacturer such as 3M Corp. or Solar Gard.

The total cost for a 2,500-square-foot home with 30 windows near New York City is approximately $1,500 to $3,000, or $50 to $100 per window, with an estimated 15% annual savings in cooling costs of about $186, according to 3M’s online cooling-savings calculator.

Window films generally can cut down glare by more than half and block up to 99.9% of UV rays, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation in New York. (The foundation vets products that claim to be UV-protective and recommends those it believes pass muster, including window films.)”

Get window film from NBISUNCONTROL

April in Florida offers some of the best beach weather, with balmy breezes and close to ideal temperatures. It’s enough to convince us that we really do live in paradise. But it comes with the forewarning that summer is quickly approaching, when we will dive into our beach waters, pools, and air conditioned buildings out of pure survival. We do well with keeping ourselves comfortable, and protecting our kids with a steady slathering of sunscreen, but we sometimes ignore the damage that the sun can inflict on our ourselves and our possessions. Window tinting can benefit not only ourselves, but also our belongings, and even our wallet.

Here are a five reasons to consider window tinting before the sun rays hit full force this summer:

Save Energy
3M window film, applied to your car, home, or business, will save energy, and therefore money. Window films and tints are able to deflect heat and spare our air conditioning systems from working so hard, as well as reduce the amount of energy used.

Preserve your possessions
The sun’s rays, especially during a Florida summer, has damaging affects on our possessions, like car interiors and furniture. Window tinting and films can block the UV rays that cause this sort of damage, as well as heat that can also damage possessions.

Rest easier during hurricane season
In Florida, another concern in the summertime is hurricane season. Window tints actually help to hold shattered glass in place, which increases your safety if your house or car is damaged by strong winds or hurricanes.

Spare your eyes
3M automotive window film in your car not only deflects some of the blazing heat, but it can also reduce glare and protect your eyes. Of course, less glare and eyestrain will likely also contribute to your ability to drive safely. Window tints in your home and business can also reduce glare and protect your eyes from the UV rays.

Protect your health
Those UV rays that can damage your possessions also damage our skin and eyes, even while we’re inside. 3M Window Film can block up to 99% of the sun’s harmful rays, reducing the chance of damage that sun can do to our skin, such as sunburn, premature aging, and skin cancer.

So, as you can see, window tinting is a practical choice for many reason, especially if you live in Florida. Window films offer affordable benefits to our health, our wallets, our cars, our homes, and our possessions.

Save money with NBISUNCONTROL window film

Consumers are typically unfamiliar with the window tint industry and how adding film to their own home windows has many different benefits. This article describes some of the reasons why people tint their windows and how it can save you money!

Heat and Light Control

Primarily, people tint their windows because there is too much light or heat coming into the room. Or both. If you?ve ever had light stream through an eastern facing window in the morning or heat build up during the afternoon through a western one, it can be quite aggravating. While sunlight is blinding and decreases visibility, both looking in and out of the window, heat makes rooms uncomfortable and increases energy use while running air conditioners and fans. Adding window tint, such as the Premium Dual Reflective 05%, can reduce heat by as much as 85%, and light by as much as 95%! All films usually offer 99% UV protection as well, which prevents fading of carpet, wood, furniture and more. These factors translate into a more comfortable room, and more importantly a reduction in energy bills.

Reducing Energy Bills

When you consider all the factors that may heat up a home, such as exposure, type of windows, occupancy level and more, they add up fast. Lowering your thermostat or running it half as often as a result of window tinting really adds up when the energy bill comes.

Tax Rebates

Most utility companies offer energy rebates based on the amount of square footage you tint on your home. Often, the amount you save can pay for the cost of installation in about two years.

Privacy and Style

This is one of the biggest requests for customers, who want privacy but do not want to hassle with the installation and bulkiness of blinds or shades. Adding dark or reflective film makes it difficult for people to see inside, but allows you to still see out. Not only that, it adds flare and design to the exterior of your home.

Window film from nbisuncontrol, sarasota, is eco-friendly

Today, people are becoming more concerned when it comes to protecting the environment. As a homeowner, you can do your part in saving the environment. Look at your windows. Do you know that windows waste up a lot of energy? For example, during summer months, windows allow sunlight into your house, which causes you to turn on your air conditioning system. During winder, heat escapes through your windows, and this causes you to burn more fuel to keep the whole house warm. Glass is a very poor insulator; that is the ultimate reason that heat can pass through it without difficulty.

Much of the heat that enters into your home comes in the form of sunlight. Since the sun can damage you furniture and can bring so much heat into your home, covering the windows with conventional shades, blinds, and shutters are employed by most house owners. Unfortunately, these traditional window treatments also prevent light from entering into your house, causing you to consume more energy since you are forced to turn on the lights.

There is another way to approach this problem without completely blocking light and heat-fashion your windows with window tint film. Also referred to as wallpaper for windows, decorative window films are very thin sheets of vinyl that are adhered on flat, non-porous surfaces for decorative, privacy, and energy-saving purposes. Think of a window tint film as a pair of sunglasses-they allow light to pass through your glass doors and windows but the glare and the harmful UV rays are reflected outside. You can also compare it to a car’s tinted window but the tint is more colorful and more exciting.

Window tint film can lower your energy bills by as much as 25 to 50%. Since it blocks UV rays from entering your home, you provide a healthy environment for your family (and your furniture too!). As research reveals, radiation can cause eye damage and skin cancer. Did you know that the sun can also damage your furniture? Remember the first time when you installed your carpet. After a few years, despite regular cleaning, the color has faded as a result of sun damage.

Aside from the practical applications of decorative window films to your home, these films also give you some sense of privacy. Did you ever check your home from outside during the night? You might be unaware that your neighbors might be prying on you at night. With window tint film, you give yourself privacy from your nosy neighbors.

As the name goes, decorative window films are wonderful decor for your home. They transform your dull room into a colorful space. Choose from various styles and designs-from stained glass films, to etched and frosted glass effects, to decorative accents and borders.

Some may think that this is an expensive investment. It is actually otherwise. Window tint films used as decorations are very economical. You can easily find them in your local home depot or you can browse catalogs online. If you are already having a headache because of too much heat, maybe it is time to consider removing your dust-gathering curtains.

Many home owners are looking for different ways of making their home windows appear beautiful without compromising on their basic functions of providing light, ventilation, security and privacy. Although for a long time tinting was a preserve of cars and office windows home window tinting has become a popular choice for home owners.

Most window tints are made up of thin films with a single or several layers of polyester base and a scratch-resistant coating and are fixed on the interior side of the windows with a strong adhesive. They are mostly used for many reasons. They are available in many shades and colors ranging from opaque to clear which when selected would enhance the architectural design of the home. Different colors or designs can be used together to provide a great outlook for the home.

Window tints protect the window from becoming too hot or too cold according to the type of climate. It is also beneficial since they act as a safety mechanism in preventing breakage of glass in case of any situations that will cause strain to it. The glare of the sun often causes the fading of items in the home thus Home window tinting is useful in curbing this as it contains sun-barrier additives to obstruct the entry of the sun’s glare.

Home windows increase air conditioning costs in summer due to the amount of heat they let into the house. To reduce this and make the home energy efficient, window tints are a good choice due to the type of materials they are made of. Energy saving element of window tints depend on the type, location of the house and tree shading. Window tints with low solar heat gain coefficient and high reflectance levels offer low transmission of heat to the home and great heat reduction.

Window film tinting installation for home, office and automobiles is increasing in demand as more people become aware of the protective and aesthetic benefits. Home and car owners have identified window tinting benefits provided by window film installation and are using the film as a solution to many on-going problems including sun damage, personal health, safety and security.

Due to technological advances in window film development, there is a tinting solution to meet your requirements. Some films are designed specifically for certain application e.g. protective films for security, tinted films for privacy and UV films for sun protection. There are also multipurpose films designed to suit many applications as an all in one solution. These multipurpose films are capable of reducing UV light and heat penetration.

The most common advantages of installing window film tinting in your home include:

Protecting the health of your family. By installing the correct window film, you can ensure that your home and family members are protected while inside the home and car. The correct window film is capable of reducing harmful ultraviolet light thus reducing the potential for skin dryness, allergies and possible skin cancers which are associated with exposure to sunlight. This is a particular concern if you are driving a car for extended periods. The shape of modern cars permits a greater amount of sunlight to enter the cabin resulting in sunburn and skin damage.
Protecting the safety of your family. Occupants of homes, offices and automobiles are subject to risks from broken glass in the event of accidental window breakage. Injuries from broken glass are potentially fatal but the hazard can be minimised with window tinting. Safety window tinting provides a resilient film on the glass surface that reinforces the glass and can hold the broken glass in place minimising the danger from spraying glass shards.
Increasing the comfort of your home. Window tinting reduces sun penetration and glare protecting your family from eye strain and fatigue especially for people with glare sensitive eyes.
Eco Friendly. Window tint film applied to your windows will reduce your energy bills and make your home more liveable. Window tinting reduces heat transfer and therefore keeps heat out on a hot day reducing air conditioner use and load. On cold days, window film effectively insulates and keeps warmth inside the home again reducing central heating requirements and energy consumption.
Protecting your interior furnishings. Sun exposure is a primary cause of damage to interior furnishings and fittings. Sun damages paint, fades curtain fabrics, cracks leather upholstery and car dash panels. Electrical equipment, computers and plasma televisions can all be damaged by direct sunlight exposure. Window tinting reduces sunlight penetration into your home and automobile and provides protection from the effects of direct sunlight.
Aesthetic appeal. Window tinting looks good. You can choose from a variety of protective films to add styles and different effects to the windows of your home, office and car. You can use tinted films and various shades of darkness, reflective films, and frosted window tinting to achieve any desired effect while maintaining sun and safety protection for your home.
It is best to contact a professional window tint provider to discuss your tinting requirements for them to be able to recommend the best film solution for your application. We recommend that you “shop around” when considering installation of window tinting. This will enable you to not only get the best installation price but also to obtain a variety of recommendations and advice from different installers.
